Ode to go on

by Zach Richter

Break my eyes,

crack my soul,

spread the pieces.

shard and crack,

break and shatter,

scatter in air,

fly in every direction,

but despair.

Let sunshine,

bright and burn,

and rain spit,

deluge and throw-up.

spill until night,

spreads a needle and darkness blanket,

out, in slow drawn out howl,

like countless trains and rough child dogs,

to madness,

plunge.

Bleach brain cells,

clean the struggle,

the wretch and clench and gnash of jaws,

let eyes once more open,

view the skies,

and return in time to know,

that all will quietly grow,

and defend,

against merciless wind,

and fires that singe,

once trials are forgotten,

day begins again,

in amnesia,

begins again,

the way,

every other single day,

begins.
